Doug Craft - Golden Rectangles |
August 2001, at CORE New Art Space |
This was my first major public exhibition as a member of CORE New Art Space, a Denver co-op gallery.
This installation detail shows three photomontages in the main gallery corner along with taped wall decorations showing two large Golden Rectangles above. The installation extends several feet horizontally with the addition of a mandala and a square-root of 5 collage on both sides. Go-Go Magazine, Volume 3, Issue 17, August 16-29, 2001 "Tonight is the last night to see the Denver debut of artist Doug Craft at Core New Art Space. Craft combines his background in science with an eye for strong visuals inspired by mathematical proportions to create strong statements about the world around us. If the work doesn't blow you away, pick up Craft's supplementary notes, where he describes, in mathematical detail, the process behind his work." - Sean Weaver |
To the right we see a collage assemblage from the Seals of the Great Kings series along with a mandala collage, Lodge of the Secret Brotherhood. This image shows how the Golden Ratios in the collages and frames help create a dynamic visual impact on a gallery wall. |

The image to the left shows another exciting assemblage from the Golden Rectangles exhibition that includes a photomontage flanked by two mandala collages with coiled Golden Rectangle collages above and below. |
